Karachi in a do or die situation. Their captain has been in sublime form but even after some good performances, they have been unable to lost most of their games. Multan would look to win another game as they have seemingly forgotten what is the feeling of losing a match. Let’s recap:

RECAP:

The start from Karachi was explosive with Vince being the aggressor. He got out on long on and it was Tayyab Tahir who showed his class. Having played a lot of first class cricket, he finally got an opportunity after half the season games gone. He stood up and played his wrist shots. Slower deliveries seemed to work for the most part. Wade struggled with sweeping the bowlers and was not impactful even after that 100 partnership run with Tayyab.

It was Imad Wasim again who produced two boundaries in no time and took the total to a respectful number. IhsanUllah was impressive with the pace and Abbas changed the pace regularly to frustrate batters. Anwar Ali was also economical. To chase 168 conveniently, Sultans had to bat their best in the power play to get an early advantage.

Imad Wasim’s first bowl was nicked and dropped by Wade. The roles were reversed as Shan Masood was striking the ball instead of Rizwan. Akif Javed appealed for an inside edge and a review showed a clear spike, Shan was gone. The impeccable Rossouw was bowled by Malik in the 7th over. Tabraiz Shamsi came back to deceive Miller and his foot-phone celebration was on!

Malik seemed to be spinning the ball well as he dismissed Rizwan. Khushdil and Anwar were on the pitch now and target seemed to get bigger with each delivery. A perfect googly by Shamsi got the the better of Khushdil. A huge six to mid wicket was the only contribution of Usama Mir as Shamsi picked him up quickly after. Wickets were coming real cheap and Shamsi was proving himself unplayable.

If it wasn’t Shamsi, it was Imad who disrupted the stumps of Carlos Brathwaite. Imad picked up Akeal Hossien too and the chances for Sultans looked bleak. They got bowled out on 101 and Karachi roared today!

Analyses and Takeaways:

Tayyab Tahir and Tabraiz Shamsi proved themselves more than just bench warmers and Karachi needed to defeat the best to bounce back in the tournament. They have found the right mix of players now.

Multan would feel they did well with the ball but kept losing wickets to spinners. Although, they have. a lot of breathing space and will take less pressure.
